Cut the rope is a unique set of physics established puzzle video games designed and developed by the Russian movie game firm ZeptoLab exclusively for its PSP handheld gaming platform. Having an original storyline, the Cut the Rope series combines puzzle gameplay with multiple levels of interactivity, allowing players to progress from one stage to another.
The game starts in the center of a forest in which you control a little girl named Nelly who's searching for her missing brother, named Joe. In order to reach Joe, Nelly should cut the rope first cut the rope that contributes to a strange tower in the middle of the forest. The tower is guarded by a monster named Treadmills, a strong, yet rather clumsy creature that produces the ropes that result in the tower unstable.
After cutting the rope, Nelly must use the PS Vita's camera so as to control the ropes in such a way as to allow her to cross the towers and get nearer to Joe. The sport is played at a horizontal scrolling manner, similar to the ones found in Nintendo DS and PSP handheld gaming programs. This mode allows players to rotate the camera left to right so as to see both the tower itself and the creature Treadmills as they move across the screen. You can also use the touch screen buttons situated on the left side of this display to move and see different levels that are available inside the game. Once Nelly reaches the tower, she must make her way down the rope and then conquer the monster before going into the Tower of Light.
Throughout the game, Nelly must cut the rope so as to protect against the monster Treadmills from breaking it down. The monster's movement, power, and speed are all determined by the type of rope which she cuts. Since Nelly grows through the levels, she can either go up or down. If Nelly goes up, she needs to make her way through the Tower of Light until she reaches the floor, while if she goes down she must find a way back into the tower to keep her adventure.
A unique feature of the game is that the rope Nelly uses to cut the rope is a manifestation of her emotions and psychological frame of mind. If she is happy or unhappy, she will use a different kind of rope and when she is angry, she'll use another rope entirely.
